I say it was fate!

Recently my husband and I went on a weekend getaway to Boulder, Co and it was so awesome!!! One of the items I mentioned I wanted to do was shop for a pair of duck boots.  I really wanted a mid calf height with some fur or something.. that’s the description I mentioned to Rusty. The day we landed, we arrived early because we didn’t have a lot of time! We picked the earliest flight possible and had a rental car lined up first thing!  We wanted to make as much of our time away as possible since we don’t have much alone time!

We went to one mall and entered a Dicks and found the pair of binoculars Rusty was just saying he needed.. then we had to wait outside of Nordstrom because it was too early.. Y’all I love Nordstrom, but I rarely visit the store.  I think this is the first time in 5 years—since I had kids for sure—that I entered looking only for me…

My grandma taught me about shoe shopping at Nordstrom many, many years ago… she told me about the amazing customer service and the quality of the products was A+...she said, “watch, you can move around the store and they will follow you!”  She proved her point and showed me with one saleswoman carrying three boxes of shoes for Nanny to try on as Nanny weaved around the shoe racks! I giggle quietly knowing it was a trick. That’s a good memory I have of my Nanny! She loved shoes and so do I...I just have an enormous foot!!!! Size 11!  Yep titanic feet.

Back to my shopping experience-  finally the doors are unlocked! I wander through the shoes and there I see them… my duck boots.  They aren’t as tall and they don’t have the fur, but there they are looking at me, saying “hey girl!”  I say “hey….”

The saleswoman says, ‘can I help you?’ as I admire the duck boots.  I sheepishly say “size 11.” Her eyebrows raise a little and says ok… and y’all, SHE COMES BACK WITH MY SHOES!  I try them on and they are perfect. Let’s don’t talk about the price - they are perfect!

The saleswoman says “we just got them in this morning!”  I say in my head ‘IT IS FATE! These are my shoes...SOLD!’  I say, “Rusty what do you think?” He says, “those are what you said you wanted..” I say in my head ‘SOLD AGAIN!’  I decide these are a gift from God because I am not too proud to admit that I did pray that I would find an awesome pair of boots while I was in Colorado!!   I pray about everything all the time..

So I say fate!  I say these shoes are a blessing!

Let your life’s blessings be small ones.  Let the pair of shoes be the bright spot in the day.  Not everyday, but occasionally.

I told you this silly but true story because this is the way I view life now.  I find God in the smallest things and it gives me comfort. I find God in a shoe sale of my heart’s desire. It may have been a coincidence that the shoes were there, and they may have not come in that morning.  Maybe the saleswoman only gave me a sales pitch. Well, so what if that is true. I choose to believe that God cares about me so much he even puts a hand in finding me the right pair of awesome boots!

I choose to find the happiness and the blessing in the day!  Most of the time there are more than I can count. Focus on the happy, not the sad.  Take in positive and send out only positive! Be a blessing to those around you. Be the positive in someone else’s life.  Choose to see the good!

Be Different Folks!
