I've Got A Dream!

Have you ever felt like there is more for me?  Like you are not really doing all that you are supposed to be doing with your life?  I did. Or maybe I should I say I still do!

I have a dream.  I have a dream of renovating houses. Not just houses, but I have wild dreams of renovating a whole town!  How? I have no idea!!! But like my Daddy always said “ Scoot, (short for Scooter) How do you eat an elephant?  One bite at a time!” Translation - don’t be overwhelmed. Just start. One step at a time.

Driving around and seeing forgotten about houses are like hidden diamonds in the rough to me and make my heart skip a beat!  You may see a house that needs to be torn down-- If the money makes sense I see a new house. I see potential! I like to take the junk left or found in the house and make it into something too.  I like to take the ugly and make it pretty. I love potential, it makes me grin!

When you see a beat up filthy kitchen.  I can see a family in the kitchen of new design cooking dinner. Its clean and beautiful and filled with love!   I can see a dad sitting in front of the fireplace while the tv is on. I can hear the kids the background yelling at each other.  Maybe I watch too many Hallmark movies!! But I can see through the nasty, stinky, sticky, rodent infested beat up house and make it a home!

I can see the colors.  I can see the natural light.  In my mind I can touch it, it seems so real to me.

I love to see things repaired and made new again.  “Makin somethin out of nothin.”

Through property management I get to make something out of nothing on a regular basis.  I love that part of my property management career! I also get to be involved in many different types of repairs or renovations and help fix hard to solve problems.  I like to consider myself a problem solver too!! I may create more than I solve but who’s counting really!?!?

I am also a real estate broker and my husband, Rusty, is in the construction business.  He is self taught and in my humble opinion he has a God given ability! He rolls his eyes when I say that.. but his carpenterary skills and ability to learn, speak for themselves.  Hopefully as you follow us on our journey you will think so too!

This desire to renovate and design has been circling my heart for a while but I have never been brave enough to try... like really try!  I would hear a voice in my head saying “really how are you gonna do that?” “Really..with what money?” “A YouTube channel...seriously they are gonna make fun of you!”  The voice in my head is a condescending jerk…. I started realizing after listening to many audio books that maybe that voice is the “negative self talk” I’ve been reading about and it really is your worst enemy.  I realized that I needed to change my thinking if I wanted to change my place.

How will I change my thoughts?  How will I get started? I started praying.  I wrote those prayers down so I could see some day how far God had taken me!

I have been praying about what to do with my work and my life.  I feel like there is more for me. I feel like I need to be doing more.  I feel like something is missing just a little..

Rusty has been wanting to build a new house.  We want to raise our girls on a farm. I want some yard birds, aka chickens!  Eventually a horse and a greenhouse. I have plans to be an old lady selling stuff from my greenhouse garden!  For us to start the farmhouse life and new house, we need more money.. To get more money, we need better projects.  Which leads us to house flipping.

By the way, I don’t really like that term because it’s so “business” and no heart!  I get emotionally involved (which is not good business) but it is what it is. I prefer to renovate the home and sell it to someone that will enjoy it… too many words, I know, when saying house flipping is easier.

Step one of the dream is complete.  We recently purchased a home. The story of how we found this home is a great story!   I plan to share it with you guys. Please find us on YouTube at Cana Dream Team. Join our group on Facebook, Cana Dream Team or Cana Construction LLC.

If our dream fails you all will have a front row seat.  If our dream succeeds we hope you all rejoice with us!

We expect this house to be beautiful.  I expect this home to be filled with love.  I am so grateful to be apart of this, to be able to help design, clean and repair this home!!!  Eeeeekkkkk I can hardly contain myself when I go there. I literally bounce around like a little kid.  I hope I stay this excited the whole time!

I plan to blog and post YouTube videos along the way! This drone footage is courtesy from our good friend Cris Ibarra. http://youtu.be/bR0OJNvB0QI
